Monterey, Pacific Grove & Pebble Beach

Our relaxing weekend in Monterey continued! Here is part 2 to the Carmel & Big Sur Taking Back Sunday post.

On Sunday, JC and I had brunch at First Awakenings in Pacific Grove. It is a popular brunch spot, so while waiting for our table, we took a morning stroll along Ocean View Boulevard near the Monterey Aquarium. We saw seals laying on the rocks. For brunch, we got steak egg benedicts and the california crepe (crepe with fluffy whipped eggs along with avocado, mushroom, onion, ham, and cheese).

We continued along Ocean View Blvd to Lovers Point Park after brunch. We actually witnessed a wedding in this park. There are large rocks that can people climb. We thought it would be a fun place to play hide and seek. In this part of Pacific Grove, there is an abundance of small purple flowers covering the ground.

Afterwards, we headed to Comfoot Spa for a 60 minute foot reflexology and body massage for $25.

We then checked out the Inn at Spanish Bay, a beautiful resort in Pebble Beach along the famed 17 Mile Drive. If you are there around sunset, you can enjoy a drink on the outdoor patio, admire the view, and listen to the bagpiper.

We continued south to Mission Ranch Inn in Carmel, which is owned by Clint Eastwood (he is a resident of Carmel and was also a former mayor of the city). The view here is spectacular as well. If it wasn’t for the light rain, we would have taken advantage of the outdoor seating. You might also see Clint, as he is a frequently spotted at the restaurant. I saw him the second time I went! They also have sheep grazing in the pasture. JC enjoyed a surf and turf for her entree and I had the mero sea bass. To finish off our weekend, JC had a root beer float (with a very authentic looking beer bottle) and I ended with bread pudding.
