Project 365 – Day 25 (Jurassic 5 – What’s Golden)

Jurassic 5 has a special place in my heart and will always be reminiscent of my younger years. I was first introduced to Jurassic 5 by my older cousin who rightfully knows the step by step dance to Apache’s “Jump On It.” Jurassic 5, also known as J5, is a hip hop group from Los Angeles who made their mark within the hip hop community in the late 90’s/early 00’s with the album Quality Control and Power in Numbers. I distinctly remember listening to “Quality Control,” “The Influence,” “Freedom,” “Thin Line,” and “Work it Out” nonstop in the car, reciting all the lines with my brother. They were known for their lyrical flow and production by DJ Nu-Mark and Cut Chemist but unfortunately broke up in 2007. However, they will reunite this year to perform at Coachella 2013 and I couldn’t be more excited!
